BYD Song L DM-i Debuts, Expected to Launch in Q3 with Price Range of 150,000-180,000 Yuan
On July 15th, BYD officially launched the Song L DM-i, a new mid-sized SUV that will feature the BYD DM5.0 technology. The estimated price range is between 150,000 to 180,000 yuan, with an expected launch date in the third quarter. The vehicle will be sold through the Wangchao network.
In terms of exterior design, the Song L DM-i retains the distinctive front face design elements of the Wangchao family. A silver chrome trim is adorned with the “Song” logo, extending to the front headlights. The front headlights, which are long and smoked, include two LED lights and are complemented by chrome decorations. The lower part features a large hexagonal mouth-shaped grille with horizontal dot matrix chrome decorations, and exaggerated air intakes on both sides.
The sides of the vehicle feature black decorations on the wheel arches and lower door edges, showcasing a crossover SUV design. The D-pillar is adorned with a robust design, echoing the wheel arches. The new car’s rear window is equipped with privacy glass, and the car also comes with hidden door handles. The tire model is Kumho 235/50 R19. In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 4780mm in length, 1898mm in width, and 1670mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2782mm.
The tail design is relatively full, with a continuous tail light and a “Chinese knot”-style light cavity design. The transparent cover showcases a certain sense of motion. The BYD brand logo is centered at the back, and the top features a dual-bulge roof spoiler. The rear bumper combines black and silver decorations.
In terms of interior design, the overall style aligns with the Qin L, featuring a simple and elegant design without excessive complexity. The car is equipped with ambient lighting, showcasing a sense of luxury. The steering wheel has a simple and atmospheric design, combining rollers and buttons. The full-digital instrument panel prioritizes the display of the driving assistance system, with a clean and clear interface. The new car also comes with a heads-up display system.
The new car has a 5-seat seating layout, with relatively thick and comfortable seats. The front seats are equipped with electric seat adjustment, and the rear has air conditioning outlets and charging interfaces. The trunk space also performs well, and it supports 4/6 backrest folding to expand the space.
In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid power system consisting of a 1.5L engine and an electric motor. The engine has a maximum power of 74kW, and the electric motor has a maximum power of 160kW. The battery is a phosphate iron lithium battery, with a top speed of 180km/h and an estimated pure electric range starting from 112km. The new car is equipped with a fast charging interface. In terms of smart driving, the new car is equipped with DiPilot, supporting lever lane change, intelligent navigation, and automatic parking.
