Elon Musk Endorses Donald Trump in U.S. Presidential Race, Donates to His Campaign

According to a report by Reuters, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has publicly endorsed former Republican President Donald Trump for the U.S. presidential election, describing him as “tough.”

On July 13, during a Trump campaign rally in Pennsylvania, multiple gunshots were heard, and Trump was grazed by a bullet but sustained no life-threatening injuries. Following the incident, Musk released a video on the social media platform X showing a bloodied Trump waving his fist.

Musk posted on X, “I fully support President Trump and wish him a speedy recovery.” This further indicates Musk’s leaning towards right-wing politics and his support for Trump’s return to the White House in the November 5 election.

Representatives of Musk and X did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the reports.

In March, Trump met with Musk and other wealthy potential donors. Responding to reports about the meeting, Musk posted on X, “I want to make it clear that I will not donate to any U.S. presidential candidate.” In May, he also denied that Trump had ever negotiated with him about possibly serving as an adviser during his presidency.

However, Bloomberg reported on July 12 that Musk has recently intensified his criticism of President Joe Biden and has donated to a political group dedicated to electing Trump.

The report did not specify how much Musk donated but added that it was a “significant amount” and went to an organization called America PAC. PACs are groups that can accept unlimited donations for political activities and are required to disclose their donors by July 15.

Musk did not respond to the Bloomberg report.

Musk has previously stated that he previously voted for Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Biden. However, in recent years, he has begun to support right-wing views, become a vocal critic of diversity initiatives and Biden’s immigration policy, and has complained that Democrats have treated Tesla and his rocket company SpaceX “very coldly.”
