Former Rolls-Royce Chief Designer Ian Cameron Dies in Mansion Attack, Murderer Still at Large

On the evening of July 12th, Ian Cameron, the 74-year-old former chief designer of Rolls-Royce, was found dead in his mansion in Germany, which was valued at £3 million (approximately 28.26 million Chinese yuan). It is reported that a man approached Ian’s house and stabbed him, and the murderer is still at large.

After inspecting the murderer’s escape route and searching for evidence, the police stated, “The investigation indicates that this was a violent crime.” They found that the power line of the surveillance camera in the garage where the luxury cars were stored was cut, and the murderer escaped on foot. The police found that the murderer had made thorough preparations, but the act of theft or assassination in this manner is rare, and the police have not yet provided details about the motive for the murder.

At the time of the attack, Ian’s wife escaped over the wall to a neighbor’s house and dialed the emergency hotline. However, due to Ian’s severe injuries, the medical staff eventually declared him dead.

Ian was hailed as a “legendary” automotive designer by Rolls-Royce. He was also a brand ambassador for the company. He worked at the company for 20 years, serving as the design director since 1999, until he was replaced by Giles Taylor in 2012 and retired from the company in 2013. After retirement, he launched his own design consulting company. He collected some valuable treasures in his £3 million mansion.

According to the Securities Times, Ian Cameron was renowned for his outstanding design achievements in renowned automotive brands such as BMW and Rolls-Royce. The relationship between BMW and Rolls-Royce began in 1998 when BMW successfully acquired the automotive manufacturing division of Rolls-Royce. Cameron’s career spanned several milestone automotive projects, including the Rolls-Royce Phantom and Rolls-Royce Ghost models.

After the incident, Rolls-Royce issued a statement saying, “We are deeply shocked by the news about Ian Cameron.” BMW also expressed deep shock and grief over the tragic passing of the former design director of Rolls-Royce.
