Maserati to Be Sold? Stellantis Is Considering the Option.

According to the latest news reports, Stellantis Group is considering selling off the Maserati brand. This decision is primarily due to Maserati’s operating loss of over 82 million euros in the first half of 2024, with global sales of only 6,500 units, a year-on-year decrease of more than 50%. Such a decline in sales and poor market performance have made Maserati the primary candidate for closure or sale among Stellantis Group’s loss-making brands.

Natalie Knight, the Chief Financial Officer of Stellantis Group, hinted that Maserati could be acquired in the future, stating that the group will consider the best outcome for Maserati. Moreover, Stellantis Group faced challenges in its overall financial performance in the first half of the year, with CEO Carlos Tavares explicitly stating that the group will not hesitate to cut underperforming brands from its product portfolio.

It is worth noting that since its establishment in 1914, the Maserati brand has undergone several changes in ownership and has been acquired or held by multiple well-known automotive companies. Amid the current trend of electrification in the automotive industry, Maserati may once again face the fate of being sold.

This decision is of great significance to the entire automotive industry, as it may mark the beginning of significant brand closures or sales in the industry. Stellantis Group’s move is undoubtedly attracting close attention from the industry.
