China’s Pickup Trucks Take Over the Global Market

In the first half of 2024, Great Wall Pickup trucks have achieved global sales of 91,916 units, with a market share of nearly 50% in China. For every two pickup trucks sold in China, one is a Great Wall. The brand’s overseas sales have also seen a growth of 7.3%, with 24,200 units sold from January to June. The Great Wall Pao has been the top-selling pickup truck for 45 consecutive months, maintaining its dominance in the market.

The global expansion of China’s pickup trucks is a natural progression for the brand. The Great Wall Pao, as a Chinese pickup truck brand, has already been launched in over 50 countries across four continents, winning the annual best pickup awards in Australia, South America, and South Africa. It has also become the first Chinese brand to receive a five-star safety rating under the new Australian ANCAP standards.
With the support of the Hi4-T new energy technology, the Great Wall Pao Mountain Sea HEV model made its official debut and went on pre-sale at the Bangkok Auto Show in March, winning the Best Commercial HEV Vehicle Award for 2024. The Great Wall Pao Mountain Sea HEV is currently the first hybrid pickup truck model in the Thai market, redefining the pickup truck market in Thailand and supporting Thailand’s transition to a sustainable, new energy society. It represents China’s new energy pickup trucks in the global market.

In June, Great Wall Pao, as the leader in the Chinese pickup truck market, launched the Great Wall Pao Mountain Sea 2.4T and Great Wall Pao Mountain Sea HEV models in Australia, accelerating its global expansion in high-potential pickup truck markets. The Great Wall Pao Mountain Sea HEV is currently the first HEV model in the Australian market, filling the gap in the high-end pickup truck market for the Great Wall Pao in Australia. Additionally, the Great Wall Pao has officially entered the Mexican market, with the commercial and passenger versions of the Great Wall Pao being launched together, further expanding the brand’s global sales network and accelerating the global popularity of Great Wall Pickup trucks.
