Ferrari Embarks on Electric Era: First Electric Vehicle Hits the Road for Testing

Italian luxury sports car manufacturer Ferrari is gearing up for a new era, promising to produce its first electric vehicle “the right way.” The yet-to-be-unveiled electric car has already started road testing.

Details of Ferrari’s first electric vehicle have not been released, but the company ensures that the new model will continue the brand’s tradition of delivering unparalleled driving pleasure.

Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari, said, “People choose Ferrari because of the joy it brings. The reasons for buying a Ferrari are multifaceted, not singular.”

Before its official debut, Ferrari’s electric vehicle has undergone road testing. Vigna revealed that the company’s test drivers have logged thousands of kilometers in the prototype.

These test drivers are the first to experience Ferrari’s electric vehicle. Vigna noted that their testing and comparisons will serve as a crucial benchmark for the company.

Reports suggest that the price of Ferrari’s first electric vehicle could exceed $500,000. Vigna expressed surprise at these reports and did not confirm or deny the rumored price.

Vigna said, “We will determine the price one month before the car’s launch, so stay tuned for the pricing details we will announce soon.”

Ferrari’s electric vehicle will be produced on a new production line, expected to start operations in January 2025. This new line will coexist with Ferrari’s existing production lines, as the company continues to produce other hybrid and internal combustion engine (ICE) models.

Moreover, Ferrari will also produce batteries, motors, and inverters in its new electric vehicle factory. It is reported that Ferrari is already working on the development of its second electric vehicle.

Ferrari’s electric vehicle is expected to make its debut next year and start sales in 2026. In the meantime, rival Lamborghini launched its first electric vehicle, the Lanzador, last summer, which is set to hit the market in 2028.
