BYD’s First Mass-Produced New Energy Vehicles Roll Off the Line in Uzbekistan Factory

On June 27th, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the BYD factory in Uzbekistan and joined the Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Yu Jun, BYD’s Chairman and CEO, Wang Chuanfu, and Executive Vice President, Li Ke, among other distinguished guests, to witness the first mass-produced new energy vehicles – the Song PLUS DM-i Champion Edition – roll off the assembly line. Additionally, BYD signed a green transportation cooperation initiative with the Uzbekistan government, aiming to jointly promote sustainable mobility solutions.

Wang Chuanfu stated that the commencement of mass production at the BYD Uzbekistan factory will accelerate the green transformation of local transportation. The signing of the green transportation cooperation initiative demonstrates BYD’s commitment to eco-friendly mobility. In the future, BYD will continue to use innovative technology to drive the development of new energy vehicles in the Central Asian region.

The BYD Uzbekistan factory is located in the Jizzakh region. Its establishment marks a significant milestone following the announcement in December 2022 that BYD would jointly build a factory with Uzavtosanoat JSC (UzAuto). The first phase of production plans to manufacture two popular plug-in hybrid models, the Song PLUS DM-i Champion Edition and the Destroyer 05 Champion Edition. The estimated annual production capacity in the first phase is 50,000 units, intended to meet the sales demand in the Central Asian market.

Earlier this year, President Mirziyoyev led a delegation to visit China and the BYD global headquarters, where he attended the production launch ceremony of the BYD Uzbekistan factory. With the factory now entering the mass production phase, it not only accelerates the adoption of new energy passenger vehicles in Uzbekistan but also supports the development of the new energy vehicle industry in the country. In the future, Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, will serve as a demonstration city to speed up the green transformation of the transportation industry.

Since entering the Uzbekistan market in March 2023, BYD has gained consumer favor with its high-quality new energy passenger vehicles, innovative technology, and professional localized services, becoming the most popular new energy vehicle brand in the region. In the future, BYD will continue to provide local customers with an even better new energy vehicle experience and help Uzbekistan realize a green and sustainable future.
